Day 1
Arrival in Cape Town airport. A traditional Cape Minstrel band will welcome them off the plane, before transferring 30 minutes to the hotel in luxury buses. En route we will stop at Signal Hill for a welcome drink and a panoramic view of the city. Light lunch on arrival and then refresh and return later after resting for a dinner on the lawns of the most magnificent hotel in the city, set on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in 9 acres of property.
Day 2
Today we will drive along the beautiful Cape Peninsula towards the famous Cape of Good Hope. At a small harbour, near the Navy headquarters of Simonstown, we will get onto high speed zodiak boats, and race through the False Bay waters to Cape Point , seeing the highest cliffs in Africa, from the ocean.
Before continuing with the bus to the famous meeting point of the two oceans ( Altantic and Indian Ocean ). We will enjoy a fantastic private seafood lunch on the edge of the ocean, freshly caught in the bay directly in front of the restaurant. Return to Cape Town with a stop for Single origin coffee, at a viewpoint ( similar to Amalfi Cliff drives in Italy ) served with tot Amarula liquer in the coffee ( something of a local take on an “irish coffee”)
Return late afternoon to our hotel, freshen up, before heading out to dinner at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Comparable to Fishermans wharf in San Francisco, with plenty of restaurants, amazing boutique stores, Big wheel Ferriswheel (like the one in London) and exciting markets.
Our group will have access to dinner across 3 different restaurants serving anything from fish specialities , to Italian to European fusion cuisine, allowing a wide array of food options to suit every palate. the restaurants are directly next to each other, and are all owned by the same family. Return late evening back to the hotel. They can also use the time to shop a little for their families as the stores are open until 9pm.
Day 3
Check out after breakfast, with our bags, and then drive 20 minutes to a private helicopter airport, with 5 helicopters waiting for us. 20 guests at a time will take helicopter flips over the magnificent table mountain, 12 apostles and Lions head. Our team will put a specially made sign on Lions head with the message or logo on a huge banner, or flags, that they will see from the helicopter.
Head out of the city, by bus into the winelands, and at a secret place where Nelson Mandela was kept in prison before they released him, we will get onto 20 vintage cars, playing a connecting role between wineries and the lunch location on Grande Provence wine estate with magnificent art and sculptures, and good wine. To get to this estate, we jump on restored double decker wine trams from San Francisco, that run through vineyards on a narrow gauge rail track.
By mid to late afternoon it time to head to Boschendal wine estate. This magnificent estate, is the perfect setting for a farm to table food experience, with late afternoon snacks, ice cream bicycles, coffee stations, wine and champagne pairings. They all form part of wholesome foods festival atmosphere, and then we will head across to our dinner in a historic building on the estate. Late evening the group will be escorted to their rooms.
Day 4
Early check out at 6am with light breakfast served on site. Each guest will receive a Lion teddy bear, and a handmade train toy, with a note that will give us a clue about the upcoming Big 5 safari and Rovos rail. With this clue, there is a handwritten message about U$ 50 per person donation to a children’s project for orphaned children in Cape Town.
Check in at 06h45 at the airport, 08h30 Fly 2 hours to Johannesburg. 10h30 land, and then a short transfer to Pretoria, and arrive 11h30 at Capital Park station, and board the luxurious and historic Rovos Rail. They will take an amazing 24 hour journey to Kruger through the highlying plateaus , before descending the escarpment and down to the eastern savanna regions of Kruger national park. En route in the train sumptious lunch and dinner’s are served. Around midnight the train will stop, and for 7 hours be stationary.
Day 5
The group in the train has stopped overnight en route, for a peaceful nights sleep, before continuing through African villages, rural savanna and tribal areas bordering on Kruger National Park as the train journey heads north the next morning. A final breakfast is served just before they arrive in Hoedspruit station. We will have a surprise stop , without the guests knowing, and 5 actors, dressed up as police men will get onto the train, and demand each guests passports.
After the stress of finding the passports, all the guests will be given a ” fine” and this will be a surprise ticket for a special drink for that evening at the safari lodge. 10am disembark, and transfer to Kapama Game reserve. A welcoming party of rangers, singers, and porters will meet them at the train station. Transfer 20 minutes by road to Kapama.
